Based on 40 years of interviewing experience in the UK, this book illustrates the variety of religious, spiritual, and other beliefs held by older people. It provides models of research procedure, especially in the context of bereavement. Participants include not only British Christians, but also Muslims, Humanists, and witnesses of the Soviet persecution of religion. Since there is little empirical research evidence published on the subject, this book fills a large gap. The defining feature is the presentation of substantial UK case illustrations, including quotations from transcripts to illustrate: how a person\'s faith helps them function in daily life, the sources of support for their beliefs, and the obstacles that lie in the way of further growth and development of their faith. It is important to let older people\'s voices and experiences be heard. The book promotes a more in-depth consideration of issues having to do with belief, religion, and spirituality.
