This laboratory Manual in Biochemistry and Biotechnology has been written to provide a source book of Technical information on a number of Experiments routinely performed by the Biology, Biotechnology and Agriculture graduate and post graduate students in practical classes. The manual would be useful not only for students but also for Teachers and researchers as a handy and easy to understand experimental details for 76 experiments in total. The manual has been divided into six chapters-Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins and Amino Acids, Enzymes, Nucleic nutritional factors. Each chapter has been introduced in brief to provide required information related with the experiments covered. Important information related with the experiments covered. Important information related with the experiment has been provided at the end of each experiment as ‘Notes’. Enough care has been taken to include each and every detail of the experiments which can be used as such without any modification. A total of 33 experiments have been included under the head Nucleic Acids which cover from Isolation and estimation of nucleic acids to gene cloning and Library preparation. These experiments will cover practical syllabus of most of Biotechnology courses offered at under graduate and post graduate level. The remaining 43 experiments represent most of basic laboratory exercises of Biochemistry courses offered at under-graduate level.About the AuthorDr V K Yadav is Professor (Biochemistry) and Dean, College of Biotechnology, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Modipuram, Meerut. He has served Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner for more than 18 years as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. Dr. V.K. Yadav did his Ph.D. in Biochemistry with Molecular Biology as major from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. He has been awarded with many national and international fellowships. He received prestigious \'Biotechnology National Associateship\' sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India for a period of 13 months including 3 months as \'Visiting Research Fellow\' to University of Virginia, Usa in 1989-90. He has visited Australia as visiting scientist to get specialized training on pheromone research sponsored by Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) in 2000. He availed prestigious JIRCAS (Japan International Research Centre for Agricultural Sciences) Visiting fellowship from Oct 2000 to Sep 2001. He worked in Lerner Research Institute, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, USA. in 2002-2003 on NIH fellowship. He has 33 publications to his Credit in journals of national and international repute and presented many papers in national and international seminars and symposia. Dr Yadav has been associated with Department of Science and Technology, Directorate of Horticulture, Department of Agriculture, Govt of Rajasthan as resource person on Biotechnology research and development meetings.
