Science and Technology has revolutionized the living standards of human life by the innovative technology and applications. These fields are growing in a fast face and contributing in understanding the scientific base of life. We are experiencing the applications of biotechnology as bioinfomatics, Emerging science in the field of biotechnology. It is not surprising that many institutes are offiering bioinfomatics and biotechnology courses at under graduate. Post graduate level. In this direction it was thought worthwhile to bring out a book, which helps to understand bioinformatics better. Bioinformatics is the application of computer technology to the management of biological information. Computers are used to gather, store, analyze and integrate biological and genetic information which can then be applied to gene-based drug discovery and development. The need for Bioinformatics capabilities has been precipitated by the exposion of publicly available genomic information resulting from the Human Genome Project. The goal of this project-determination of the sequence of the entire human genome (approximately three billion base pairs)-will be reached by the year 2002. The science of Bioinformatics, which is the melding of molecular biology with computer science, is essential to the use of genomic information in understanding humsn diseases and in the identification of new molecular targets for drug discovery. In recognition of this, many universities, government institutions and pharmaceutical firms have formed bioinformatics groups, consisting of computational biologists and bioinformatics computer scientists. Such groups will be key to unraveling the mass of information generated by large scale sequencing efforts underway in laboratories around the world.

Ajit Keshavrao Gangawane : Born on 31st May 1973 an experienced Researcher and Teacher. He completed Doctoral Degree from Mumbai University in branch of Biochemistry under DST funded project. He is having 6 years of teaching and 5 years of research experience. He has attended International and National Seminar/Conferences/Symposia in biological science. He has 13 Genbank Submission, 6 International research paper along with 1 book published in his credit. At present he is working as Associate Professor, MGM School of Biomedical Sciences, Navi Mumbai. Srinath Rao born on 15th Dec 1954 an experienced researchers and ardent teacher. He has 28 years of teaching experience, and served as Chairman, Dept. Of Botany, Gulbarga University, Gulbarga four times. Under his guidance 11 students have completed Ph.D. & 19 students have completed M.Phil. He has completed 5 researches publications to his credit. He delivered lectures at many refresher courses. He is an active member of much professional body's. He visited Germany, UK & USA. He has attended several national and international conferences and presented research papers. At present he is working as chairman of Botany at Gulbarga University. C S Patil born on 29th Feb 1960 an experienced researchers and ardent teacher. He completed post graduation in botany and Doctoral in biotechnology from Gulbarga University. He has 26 years of teaching experience. He has attended several national and international seminar/symposia/conferences in biological sciences and presented & published his researches articles in reputed journals besides authored books on "Hongirana" & "Talitantrajnana" in Kannada and Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Environmental Education. He is engaged in furthering studies on biotechnology. At present, heading the department of biotechnology at B.V. Bhoomareaddi College Bidar. He is honoured with various prestigious awards and district kannada rajotsava award. Recently he has been honoured national awards that is "Bharata Jyothi National Award in the field of Biotechnology and Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award in Science And Technology" He is also coordinator of IQAC and serving as a District science samithi president.He visited several countries and presented research papers in many internatioal and national conferences. He has written many articles in daily and weekly magazines on science and technology.
