There have been important developments in materials and therapies for the treatment of spinal conditions. Biomaterials for spinal surgery summarizes this research and how it is being applied for the benefit of patients. The final part of the book describes developments in regenerative therapies including the use of stem cells for intervertebral disc regeneration.
Author Biography
Luigi Ambrosio is Adjunct Professor of Biomaterials at University of Naples "Federico II'. His principal research interest include design and characterisation of polymers and composites for medical applications and tissue engineering, rheology of biological fluids, structural properties of natural tissue, processing of polymers and composites, hydrogels and biodegradable polymers. Elizabeth Tanner is Professor of Mechanics of Materials and Structures at the University of Glasgow, UK.
