'The modernist movement comprises one of the most remarkable constellations of genius in the history of the West.' Harry Levin The year 1922 began with the publication of Ulysses, one of the most influential English-language novels of the century and ended with the publication of The Waste Land, one of the most influential English-language poems of the century. Despite several revolutions in taste, these two works remain the twin towers at the beginning of modern literature; some would say of modernity itself. Constellation of Genuis puts the accomplishments of Eliot and Joyce in the context of the world in which their works appeared, as well as showcasing a stellar cast of Modernist luminaries, including Louis Armstrong, Brecht, Chaplin, Chanel, Dali, Disney, Einstein, and Fitzgerald.
