Description
Despite considerable advances in the traditional treatment modalities of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy and their use in combination, oral cancer still presents at a relatively advanced stage, the increments in overall survival have been small, and morbidity that accompanies treatment adversely affects the quality of life. Controversy in this area is therefore inevitable. This volume brings together the work of experts from clinical and basic sciences specialties and addresses some of the controversial issues and advances in the management of oral cancer.

Author Biography
Kumar Alok Pathak is Professor of Surgery and Director of Surgical Fellowships at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. He also practices as Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist at Cancer Care Manitoba. Earlier, Dr Pathak served as a Professor of Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India. He had his training at the Bananas Hindu University and Tata Memorial Hospital in India and at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York. His main areas of interest are clinical and translational research in oral and thyroid cancers.Richard W. Nason is Professor and Head, Department of Surgery at the University of Manitoba and the Regional Medical Director, Surgery Program, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. He has practiced as a Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist at Cancer Care Manitoba since 1993 where he had served as the Head of Surgical Oncology and chaired the Head and Neck Disease Site Group. Dr Nason did his residency in General Surgery at the University of Alberta, Canada; and a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at Roswell Park Memorial Institute, New York. His clinical and research focus has always been on head and neck cancer.
