Critique of Pure Reason by Immanuel Kant is one of most notable works published on philosophy. It was first published in the year 1781, and is also known as first critique. Kant argues in his book that priori intuitions lead to priori knowledge, which also forms the basis for posterior knowledge. The ideas shared by Kant in the book directly contradict the philosophy of Aristotle. The book has two prefaces and is divided into two parts, namely Doctrine of Elements and Doctrine of Method. The first part is further divided into two sections, Transcendental Aesthetic and Transcendental Logic. The Doctrine of Method, the second part, is further divided into four sections, namely Discipline of Pure Reason, Canon of Pure Reason, Architectonic of Pure Reason, and History of Pure Reason. The book offers a fundamental distinction between two types of representation, namely intuition and concept. In the book, Kant mainly argues rationalism and reason are far more superior than empiricism and experience. The book was followed by two other books on a similar subject, titled Critique of Practical Reason and Critique of Judgement. The book is a monumental work in the literary world as it has helped in exposing the failures of conventional philosophy and has initiated much debate. Immanuel Kant was a famous German philosopher and writer. He was born on April 22, 1724. He conducted extensive research and delivered lectures on anthropology during the age of Enlightenment, i.e., the later part of eighteenth century. He even made an important astronomical observation regarding the nature of the earth’s rotation, and this won him the Berlin Academy Prize in theyear 1754. His other notable works include The Science Of Right, Metaphysics of Morals, and Perpetual Peace.
