Discrete-Time Signal Processing provides a comprehensive approach to discrete-time signal processing, and it is considered as an ideal reference book on the subject. Summary Of The Book Discrete-Time Signal Processing delves into the history of discrete-time signal processing as well as the latest developments in the field. In addition to discussing the current applications of the technology, it also covers the possibilities of future applications. Concepts are explained lucidly and in great detail. Plenty of examples are provided to help the reader gain a thorough understanding of the subject. Some of the topics covered include discrete-time signals and systems, the Z-transform, sampling of continuous-time signals, structures for discrete-time systems, filter design techniques, discrete Fourier transform, and discrete Hilbert transforms. The book is ideal for advanced students of the subject as a strong foundation of several fundamental concepts is necessary. But as in-depth information is given in the book, beginners may find this book useful. About The Authors Alan V. Oppenheim is a well-known researcher and educator, and currently a Ford Professor of Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Signal processing and its applications are his main areas of interest. He has authored or co-authored several books, including Signals and Systems and Discrete-Time Signal Processing. He was born in 1937 in New York City. He has the S.B., S.M., and Sc.D. degrees in electrical engineering from MIT. He has been the recipient of several awards for his contributions to teaching and research. John R. Buck is currently a professor at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. In addition to Discrete-Time Signal Processing, he has co-authored another book called Computer Explorations In Signals And Systems Using MATLAB. He has bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Humanities. He also has a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and a PhD in Oceanographic Engineering. Underwater acoustics, signal processing, and marine mammal bio-acoustics are some of his research interests. Ronald W. Schafer is a noted electrical engineer who has made significant contribution in the area of digital signal processing. He has co-authored many books in this field, including Digital Signal Processing, Introduction to Digital Speech Processing, and Theory and Applications of Digital Speech Processing. He was born on February 17, 1938, in Nebraska. He received his PhD from MIT in 1968. He subsequently joined Bell Laboratories, where he carried out research on digital signal processing and digital speech coding. He has received several awards, including the IEEE Region 3 Outstanding Engineer Award. He joined Hewlett Packard in 2005.
