About the Author Daniel Goleman is a science journalist, psychologist, and author. He has written books like Working With Emotional Intelligence, The Emotionally Intelligent Workplace: How to Select For, Measure, and Improve Emotional Intelligence in Individuals, Groups, and Organizations, and Vital Lies,Simple Truths: The Psychology Of Self-Deception. His writing focuses on various aspects of psychology, leadership, education, and science. Goleman was born on March 7, 1946, in Stockton, California. He studied at the University of California (Berkeley) and later graduated from Amherst College. He went on to earn a PhD from Harvard University. His contributions to the fields of psychology and writing have won him several honors and awards, including a Career Achievement Award in journalism from the American Psychological Association as well as two Pulitzer Prize nominations. Goleman is married to Tara Bennett-Goleman, and the couple has two children.
