Mid-career professionals have been disappointed and discarded in droves. From corporate downsizings to bad job decisions to too much stress to the overall demise of job security, eventshave conspired to alienate people from their careers. Baby boomers confronting retirement--and the possibility of being over the hill--have ratcheted up career anxiety. In fact, many mid-career professionals suffer from what Worthing and Buck have dubbed the BBFR Syndrome- Bored, Burned out, Retired or Fired. Escape the Mid-Career Doldrums is for anyone who has experienced one or more of these common career states and wants to do something about them. Worthing and Buck draw on the stories of individuals they've coached and organizations they've consulted for as well as additional research that documents these trends. More than that, they provides a step-by-step process that they've successfully used in their coaching and consulting--a process designed to help the bored, burned out, retired and fired make the most of their second chance at having a great career.
