S. Thangasamy is presently the Dean (Research & Development) Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore. He has been teaching in Kumaraguru College of Technology since 1999 and served as Head of Computer Science & Engineering as well as Information Technology departments for 11 years. Dr. Thangasamy received his B.E. (Honours) in Electrical Engineering from Madurai University in the year 1971. After a year?s training in Nuclear Engineering and allied subjects at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, he has served the Department of Atomic Energy for 27 years as an R&D engineer. He was a gold medalist at school, University as well as at BARC Training School. He has acquired his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai in the year 1983. In addition to his extensive work in modeling and simulation of nuclear power plants as well as Indian electrical power systems to enable the smooth integration of the two, he was involved in the design and implementation of computer-based hot standby systems for control and monitoring of safety critical processes in several Indian nuclear power plants.
