s Dr. H C Srivastava, the former Principal Scientist and Head of Medicinal & Aromatic crops, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore (I.C.A.R.). He acquired M.Sc. (Agriculture Botany) degree in 1962 from University of Allahabad and Ph.D. in Cytogenetics of Psidium guajava Linn and its allied species under the guidance of famous Cytogeneticist Dr. S.P. Naithani in 1968 from University of Allahabad. His Ph.D. thesis was highly appreciated by Professor Dr. Askel Love of University of Colorado, U.S.A. and Professor Arun Kumar Sharma of University of Calcutta, India. He has 35 year of experience in researches of Medicinal & aromatic, agricultural, horticultural crops and lectures in University of Agra, Haryana Agricultural University, Hissar & Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore. He has publised 6 books and 225 research papers, conference papers, scientific articles, technical bulletins, technical reports, television programmes, extension lectures and has evaluated M.Sc. & Ph.D. researches. He was the first person in the world to report tetraploidy in guava and seedlessness in fruits of ber. He reported vivipary and improved selction in Avocado for the first time in India. He reported the new variety Arka Surabhi of French Jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum Linn) with yield of 35 kg. concrete per Hectare and a promising selection with 0.9% concrete. He has reported high essential oil yielding varieties and selections in Jasminum sambac, J. auriculatum and J. pubescens. In addition to these he has reported green, yellow & pink coloured tuberoses and its high essential oil containing strain Dr. Srivastava has developed new varieties and promising selections in Pogostemon patchouli, Pelargonium graveolens, Lantana camara, Aloe vera, mucna pruriens and Bacopa monnieri. In addition to these he has a long experience in cultivation and processing of several medicinal and aromatic crops. He got superannuation on 31 August 2003. Now he is a consultant and advisor to medicinal & aromatic agro-industries. Debmalya Barh, He did his M.Sc. (Agi) from Calcutta University, M.Sc in Applied Genetics (1st Class Second rankholder) from Banaglore University and M.Phill in Biotechnology from Bharathidasan University. He was always a rank student throughout his career. He has extensive works in Seed Science, Cancer Biology, Genomics, and proteomics. He has worked with several reputed Research Institutes and Organizations. He is a former Post Graduate Lecturere in Genetics & Biotechnology in Brindavan College, Bangalore University. At present he is working as a Scientist with a top Bioinformatics MNC in the area of Proteomics and also a consultant Biotechnologist. In this book his contributions are chapters including Cancer Genetics, Apoptosis and Stem Cell as some of the outputs of his knowledge and experience in these areas.
