Grape cultivation is one of the most lucrative farming in India. It is grown in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. India produces approximately 9 lakh tonnes of fresh grape annually from an area of 34,000 ha. In the world scenario of grape exports India’s share about 12,000 tonnes per year, accounting for 1.33 per cent of the total production. Grapes are grown in tropical regions of India and research goes on at National Research Centre, Pune and Indian Institute of Horticulture Research, Bangalore. India has the distinction of grape harvesting at such a time when no grapes are harvested anywhere in the world by virtue of double pruning. All aspects regarding soil , water, climate, propagation and root stock, varieties, the establishment of vineyard training, pruning systems, physiological disorders, pest and diseases, procesing and wine-making have been covered in this book.

s Dr. M K Sheikh is Professor & Head, Department of Horticulture College of Agriculture Bijapur. He partcipated in 1st International Symposium on Pomegranate & Minor Fruits at Cuckurova University, Adana Turkey from 16-19 October 2006. He visited South Africa on the invitation of Alterna Fruits Company, Paari South Africa from 27-01-2008 to 03-02-2008. He guided/acted as member of PG students. He published 40 Research Papers and 100 Popular articles. He is organizing 2nd Inernational Symposium on Pomegranate and Minor Fruits during January-February 2009 at University Of Agricultural Sciences Dharwad, Karanataka India as Organising Secretary. Dr. Manjula N has sixteen years of experience in Teaching, Research and Extension. She has made significant contribution in preparing six laboratory manuals. She has more than 100 publications to her credit. She has also brought out two extension folders and one book in Kannada. Guided Ph.D students and served as Staff Adviser to Assistant Registrar. She is also nominated as Member of Board of Studies (FA) of UAS, Dharwad.
