There is substantial effort and research within various disciplines to tackle the current issues and trends in instructional systems and technology that deal with the improvement of computer- and technology-assisted learning settings and environments, online and distance education, technology and cognition, as well as the multicultural and cross-cultural aspects of instructional technology and learning. The Handbook of Research on Instructional Systems and Technology addresses these issues by providing information on the different styles of instructional design methodologies, tips, and strategies on how to use technology to facilitate active learning as well as techniques to help faculty and researchers develop online instructional and teaching materials. This Handbook of Research enables libraries to provide a foundational reference to meet the information needs of researchers, educators, practitioners, administrators, and all other stakeholders in the context of instructional systems and technology.

Terry T. Kidd is a PhD candidate from the Texas A&M University and is the Director of the Office of Instructional Development at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health. Kidd has presented at international conferences on designing technology rich learning environments, web based instruction, and issues dealing with faculty and staff development. His research interests include technology adoption and change, technology leadership, instructional design strategies for eLearning and socio-cultural aspect of information communication and technology as they relate to social change and community building. Holim Song is an assistant professor of instructional technology at Texas Southern University (Houston, Texas). His research interests include designing and sequencing of online interactions, instructional strategies for Web-based instruction, the impact of multimedia in online education, and designing and integrating multimedia learning objects to enhance instructional quality of face to face learning environments. Dr. Song has a wide range of expertise in education. He completed the MEd degree in second language education and the EdD in instructional technology from the University of Houston.
