Developmental processes have a profound effect on an individual's psychosocial development and adjustment patterns in later life. The book explains various theories of development and also various factors affecting development thus providing a deep understanding of the determinants of development. The book includes a chapter on socialisation processes to give an insight into the importance of social agents, media and ecological factors in development. Stress has become inevitable part of modern life and deeply affects an individual's physical and psychological well-being. A chapter related to nature, types, causes, consequences and management of stress has been included to provide an understanding of stress and coping strategies for healthy psychological development. The book will be very useful for social planner and policy makers to develop strategies for healthy psychosocial development and thus promote better adjustment during adult life.

Dr. Nirupama Bhatt is lecturer in Psychology in St. Wilfred's P.G. College, Jaipur. She obtained her Mater's, M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Psychology from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. She has also obtained Master's degree in English Literature, P.G.Diploma in Human Ecology and Diploma in German language. Her field of interest and specialisation includes Behaviour Genetics, Developmental Psychology and counselling and guidance to women, girls and children. She has published a number of research articles in international and national journals and in books.
