Taking us back to the dawns of Aryan civilisation and the Vedas and ending with a discussion on life style, the book unravels the story of India's quest for roots and integrity. Every chapter is a melange of the author's rich and varied thoughts. The Partition of the country came as a jolt to his assumptions regarding culture. Yet his last chapter, "The Immediate Problem" provides for a ray of hope. Reprint of 1948 classic.
