Jean Paul Sartare was a commited writer, political thinker and activist of France, whose existensionalism has been reflected in his writings, lectures and interviews. Sartare is well remembered for his denouncing Soviet concentration camps as far back as 1950.He was the one who condemned Soviet intervention in Hungary and also protested against Algerian. War. His protest against De Gaulle is a part of history. Sartare met Castro in Cuba, Tito in Belgrade (Yugoslavia) and Khrushchev of Soviet Union. He attended the Russel Tribunal investigating American war crimes in Vietnam. He is also remembered for his support of Israel over opening of Gulf of Aqaba and his support of boycott of Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980. Sartare was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1964 but refused to accept it. In 1976, he was conferred with a doctorate by the University of Jerusalem. The present volume is an attempt to bring on record at one place the life, times, thought and message of the great thinker by taking the reader through the numerous glimpses into his memoirs and writings.
