The present book discusses as to how judicial activism in India, has resulted in a kind of judicial autarchy. Indian Judiciary has been an effective and useful check on the lapses and omissions of the Executive and therefore judicial activism has been acclaimed as a praise-worthy panacea for ready and quick justice to the common man and has transformed the courts from legal forums into the instruments of social justice.The judiciary has issued guidelines in the matters on which there was no law and these guidelines have the status of parliamentary law. This necesarily involves the conflict of jurisdiction between the judiciary and the legislature.The author has suggested the restructuring of judicial power so that it may be beyond any judicial challenge.About the AuthorNilanjana Jain is senior lecturer in the Department of Political Science, Arya Kanya Degree College, Central University of Allahabad.She has more than two dozens research papers to her credit published in various journals/magazines of national repute.
