Kane And Abel is the story of two powerful men brought together by fate and locked in a lifelong battle to be the primary force in their field. Summary Of The Book Kane And Abel is the story of two men who come from vastly different worlds. They share only two things in common - a date of birth and a zeal for success. The novel is set in the initial years of the twentieth century. William Lowell Kane comes from a wealthy and powerful Yankee family from Boston. Abel Rosnovski (originally named Wladek Koskiewicz) is born amidst great poverty, in a very turbulent setting. William is a resourceful young man who goes on to become a successful banker like his late father. Wladek, born into extreme poverty, turns out to be very intelligent. After a lot of hardships, he moves to America and assumes a new identity as Abel Rosnovski. Abel eventually becomes the proprietor of a successful chain of hotels, while Kane is the head of the Kane And Cabot Bank that he inherited from his father. As ordained by destiny, their paths eventually cross. What follows is a long, no-holds-barred battle for supremacy and wealth. In a story spanning 60 years, and marked by extremes of emotions, two powerful, ruthless men are bound together by the chains of fate. The title and story of the book are a play on Cain and Abel, two Biblical brothers. The book was first released in 1979 in the United Kingdom, and later in the United States. It was an international success and topped the New York Times bestseller list. It was adapted for television as a miniseries titled Kane & Abel. The book also has a sequel, named The Prodigal Daughter. About Jeffrey Archer Jeffrey Archer is a British author and former politician.
