This bookis written to meet the requirement of Pre-service and in-service teachers in the teacher training Institutes, those who are mostly dealing with children at elementary and high school level, Teacher Education programme and Universities in India also. The book led to define various aspects of reading, some basic approaches of reading, individual differences in "Learning to Read". It also highlights processes involved in reading, oral reading skill, factors affecting, Problems of Reading, Meta-linguistic and reading Awareness. It will help the students to identify reading Awareness. It will help the students to identify reading failure and remedial measures of it. Children with poor comprehension may need training in verbal processing skills, semi-syllabic writing system, and remedial programmes with reading difficulties. Oral reading is a basic process without which comprehensive is not possible.

Sujata Pattanaik is currently working as a Senior Teacher Education at TE & SCERT, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Prior to this she worked in Teacher Training Institute, DIET, Khorhda and Bolangir and as State Distance Education Coordinator in Orissa Primary Education Programme Authority (OPEPA), Bhubaneswar. She has also worked as a Lecturer in B.Ed. College, Titligarh, Bolangir, Odishar for eight years. During her tenure in OPEPA she organized many effective Educational Programmes in Audio Video, Script Writing, Orientation and Training module transaction through Teleconference programmes, Radio programmes, T.V. Programmes for Elementary Education in 30 districts of Odisha, national level work shops in ICT under DEP-SSA, Ignour, New Delhi. She has developed 'Multi Media package' for girls education in three backward tribal districts Malkagiri, Nawarangpur and Kalahandi. She has also developed number of short films in different inventions like IED, Girls Education, Tribal Education, EGS & AIE, Teacher Training, Pedagogy and others to disseminate the message and success stories of the project. One short film "Jhumpara Jeed" in tribal dialect was awarded by CIET, NCERT, New Dlhi in which maximum efforts were made by her. She has also developed SLM for teachers as well as children. Many Feedback Analysis of the content based radio programmes and Teleconference has been conducted and published by her. She has been writing articles, poems in Odiya Magazines and several seminar papers also published in different journals.
