Bikash Bhadury has had a rich and varied professional career with over 20 years of industrial experience in India, the USSR, and USA and over 20 years of teaching, research, and industrial consultancy work experience. Having graduated with honours in Mechanical Engineering in 1962, Professor Bhadury obtained an MS in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC., USA. He worked in the manufacturing industry from 1962 to 1984. During this period, he got the opportunity of working as a staff industrial and manufacturing engineer, and then as a line manager in production and works management. He received intensive formal training in tool engineering in the erstwhile USSR for a period of eighteen months. He is also a certified ISO 9000 lead assessor and a fellow member (FIE ) of the Institution of Engineers ( India ). After 20 years in industry, he decided to pursue a career in academics, and obtained a Ph D in Engineering in 1987. He was a Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur from 1986 to 2001. Thereafter, he has also taught at the Fatih University in Istanbul, Turkey, and Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM) Kolkata. He has carried out and supervised a number of research projects including over 50 MTech and 6 doctoral dissertations. He is the author of 4 books and has published number of papers in national and international journals.
