Professor Rege holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Society for Biological Engineering. Igor L. Medintz is a research biologist at the Center for Bio/Molecular Science and Engineering at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory.
