    The Tablighi Jama'at is arguably the most widely followed movement in the Islamic world. Emerging from the socio-economic and historical context of the Mewat region near Delhi in the 1920s, it has now established itselfin over a hundred and fifty countries. Yoginder Sikand's book, the first major work by a brilliant young scholar, examines the Tablighi Jama'at in three very different milieux - Mewat (India), Bangladesh and Britain.

  • Author Biography

    Yoginder Sikand recieved his Ph.D. for his work on the Tablighi Jama'at from Royal Holloway College, University of London. He is currently a post doctoral Fellow at the International Institute for the Study of Islam in the ModernWorld at Leiden, the Netherlands.
