Author Biography
Jane Addams built her reputation as the country most prominent woman through her writings, her settlement work, and her international efforts for world peace for which she received Noble Peace Award in 1931. She wrote ten books, more than two thousand articles and had given hundreds of speeches. Her writings on a variety of subjects, her notion of social feminism and her work for the poor and needy continued to address the complexities of politics and moral duty in American life.
