  • Description

This is an accessible and up-to-date introduction to the key theme of policing and young people in the UK. The book gives a comprehensive overview of the issues involved in working with young people as offenders, suspects, witnesses, victims, and citizens. It looks at perceptions of the young and the role of the media in the context of current debates around anti-social behavior, gangs, and the family. The impact of UK multi-agency approaches onthe way that young people are dealt with by the police and other agencies is considered, and additional chapters discuss police discretion and ethics, as well as the safeguarding of vulnerable young people.
