Rural Industrialisation plays a vital role in India due to a large and growing reservoir of potential workers, abundant resources of raw materials, traditional skills and large demand for goods and services.This book consists of selected papers presented in the seminar organised to analyse the impact of the economic reforms on the rural industrialisation in India at the GRI. The book consists of two papers on the general theme of rural industrialisation. A few papers discusses about the growth and performance of rural industries in India and other countries. The problems and suitable recommendations are presented in few papers of the book. A few case studies are given for strengthening the rural industrial policy measures in India.This book would help the researchers and students involved in the study of rural industrialisation. About Author : Dr. M. Soundarapandian is Reader in Rural Industries and Management, Gandhigram Rural Institute (Deemed University), Gandhigram. Apart from teaching and extension responsibilities at Gandhigram rural Institute, he has been engaged in research activities. He has published many research articles in various journals at national and international level and six books namely rural Industries in India, Women Entrepreneurship, Tribal Development, Industrial Resurgence in Rural India, Literacy Campaign in India, and Rural Entrepreneurship. Apart from providing research guidance to a number of Ph.D., and M.Phil. students, he has directed and completed Nine minor research projects and two major research projects, sponsored by University Grants Commission, Indian Council of Social Science Research, Bharat Vigyan Samiti, Ministry of Rural Developemnt, New Delhi and State Resource Centre for Non-formal Education, Chennai. Currently he is engaged with a major research project financed by University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
