Author Biography
Raj Kumar (b. 1939) was awarded a doctorate from Kurukshetra University for his work on 'Annie Besant' after post-graduating from Punjab University. He was the first doctoral thesis on the subject and later he obtained thesis on the subject and later he obtained degrees in Law and Education from Delhi and kurukshetra Universities respectively. After distinguished service in the Engineering Branch of the Indian Navy, during which he earned two War Medals for the Goa Operation and the Pakistan War, he turned to academics and joined Kurukshetra University. The ended with a Deputy Directorship (Research) with the India Council for Historical Research. He was called upon to deliver the Dr. Annie Besant Memorial Lecture in B.H.U., Varanasi in 1993 and the Sir William Mayor Lecture in Madras University in 1994. He is a member of the Board of Studies of a number of universities. Rameshwari Devi is well-known for her social work among women and is connected with several leading women's organisations. Besides travelling extensively in India and Nepal, she is running a school for the ruralpoor. Romila Pruthi obtained an M. A. degree in History after completing Honours in the same subject in B.A. She is a member of several academic organisations in History and has participated in several youth conferences. She writes frequently for research journals.
