Author Biography
Ron S. Kenett, Ph.D. is CEO and Senior Partner of KPA Ltd., an international management consulting firm representing the Juran Institute in Israel, and Adjunct Full Professor at Tel Aviv University. He has over 20 years of experience in restructuring and improving the competitive position of organizations by integrating statistical methods, process analysis, supporting technologies and modern human resource management systems. As Professor of Management at the State University of New York, he was awarded the General Electric Quality Management Fellowship. For nine years he served as Director of Statistical Methods for Tadiran Telecommunications Corporation and, previously, as researcher at Bell Laboratories in New Jersey. His 70 publications are on topics in industrial statistics, software reliability, performance appraisal systems and quality management. Ron is co-author of three books - Modern Industrial Statistics: Design and Control of Quality and Reliability (with S. Zacks and a forward by Robert Galvin, Chairman of Motorola Inc.), Duxbury Press, 1998, Multivariate Quality Control: Theory and Applications (with C. Fuchs), Marcel Dekker Inc., 1998 and Software Process Quality: Management and Control (with E. Baker), Marcel Dekker Inc., 1999. Dr. Kenett's Ph.D. is in Mathematics from the Weizmann Institute of Science. A partial list of companies he has consulted for includes: Intel, AT&T, National Semiconductors, Motorola, AVX, Dun & Bradstreet, EMC, Tadiran, Applied Materials, Israel Aircraft Industries, Magic Software Enterprises, Comverse and Cellcom. He serves on the Board of Directors of IBG Ltd., an organization whose mission is to help start-up companies develop business and marketing plans and establish strategic partnerships. Ron is Contributing Editor of Quality Progress ,serves on the Standing Review Board of Quality Press and is listed in American Men and Women of Science, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Baron's Who's Who in Banking and Finance. BAKER is President of Software Engineering Consultants, Inc., Los Angeles, California, and a principal officer of Process Strategies, Inc., a software consulting firm based in Los Angeles and Walpole, Maine. The author or co-author of several articles on software quality, software quality management, software engineering, and software process improvement, he has 40 years of engineering experience, 25 of which has been spent as a software engineer and as a consultant to software development organizations. Dr. Baker held a number of management positions and was Manager of the Product Assurance Department of Logi-con's Strategic and Information Systems Division. He has played a major role in the development of software quality standards for both industry and the Department of Defense. Dr. Baker received the B.M.E. degree (1956) from New York University, New York City, and the M.S.M.E. degree (1958), and the M.S. (1974) and Ph.D. (1981) degrees in Education from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
