Author Biography
Dr. Nav Prem Singh born on 13th October 1971 at Amritsar and completed his B.Sc. Hons. (Agriculture) from Khalsa College, Amritsar in 1994, M. Sc. (Pomology) and Ph.D. (Pomology) in 1997 and 2002 respectively from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. He served as Agricultural Development Officer (P.A.S.-I) from September, 2000 to May, 2003 and thereafter worked as Assistant Horticulturist at RFRS, Bahadurgarh (Patiala) and served as Incharge, Fruit Resarch Station, Gangian (Dasuya) Hoshiarpur from April, 2006 to June, 2008. Presently, he is working as Assistant Professor of Horticulture, in Department of Horticulture, Punjab Agricultural University and is involved in teaching, research and extension activities. He is working on the crop improvement, propagation and production technology in mango, litchi, citrus, pomegranate and pears. He has widely surveyed and evaluated indigenous mango germplasm in sub mountain region of Punjab. He is associated in the development of sucking mango variety Gangian Sindhuri and his three recommendations regarding production technology of fruits are included in package and practices published by PAU. He published six book chapters, 30 research papers and extension articles in reputed national and international journals/scientific magazines. Dr. Krishan Kumar Sharma was born at village Lakhna Tappa Tehsil Patti district Tarn Taran (Punjab) on June, 1943 and obtained his primary education from rural schools. He did his graduation in 1969 from Khalsa College Amritsar (Punjab University, Chandigarh) with Soil Science as major subject in B.Sc. Agriculture; and M.Sc. (Horticulture) in 1971 and Ph.D. in 1981 from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. He started his career as Research Assistant in December, 1971 in the Department of Horticulture, PAU and became Assistant Horticulturist in 1976. He rose to the position of Director cum Horticulturist at PAU-Fruit Research Station, Gangian (Dasuya) Hoshiarpur in 1983 and promoted as Senior Horticulturist in 1991 at the main campus of Punjab Agricultural University. He published more than 90 research and popular articles in reputed Journals. He is the senior author of bulletin on Pear Cultivation published by PAU. After retirement, he is providing consultancy to many progressive orchardists of the state. Hehas worked on all fruits being commercially cultivated in North Indian plains.
