Author Biography
Bonnie Mohnsen, PhD, CEO and president of Bonnie's Fitware, Inc., taught middle school physical education for 13 years and has served as a middle school department chair and mentor-teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District. She also has worked as a physical education consultant for the Los Angeles County Office of Education, Orange County Department of Education, and the Montebello Unified School District. She has consulted with numerous state departments of education on curriculum, including California and Maine, and served as the primary consultant for the Physical Education Curriculum Analysis Tool from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Mohnsen has presented in Japan, Germany, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates. She has presented at more than 300 workshops and in-services in the United States on a variety of topics, including teaching middle school physical education, curriculum development, assessment, and using technology in physical education. Dr. Mohnsen is the author of Using Technology in Physical Education, Fifth Edition; Building a Quality Physical Education Program (Grades 6-12); Integrating Technology and Physical Education; Assessing Student Understanding of Motor Learning Concepts; Strengthening Your Physical Education Program Through Grading and Assessment; and Assessing Concepts: Secondary Biomechanics. She has also authored numerous articles. Dr. Mohnsen is the editor of NASPE's Concepts of Physical Education: What Every Student Needs to Know, a follow-up to the National Standards for Physical Education and the New Leadership Paradigm for Physical Education.Dr Mohnsen was Southern California Middle School Physical Educator of the Year in 1989. She was also named the 1997 Physical Education Administrator of the Year for the Council of School Leadership for Physical Education. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, reading, and digital electronics.
