Author Biography
Irene Chen received her EdD in instructional technology from University of Houston (1998). Currently, she is an associate professor in the Department of Urban Education at the University of Houston Downtown. Dr. Chen has diverse professional experiences. Previously, she was an instructional technology specialist, learning technology coordinator, and a computer programmer/analyst. She has taught numerous graduate and undergraduate courses in instructional technology and curriculum and instruction, and delivered many K-12 in-service training and professional development activities for university staff and faculty members. Jane Thielemann is an associate professor of education in the College of Public Service at the University of Houston-Downtown, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in reading, language arts, and educational psychology. She received an EdD from the University of Houston Main Campus, and has been a member of the faculty at UH-D for 15years. As a teacher, consultant, and author, Dr. Thielemann has written numerous articles on teacher education, minority student enrollment in higher education, and business-education partnerships. She also has authored a textbook for teacher certification, Preparing for Teacher Certification in English, Language Arts and Reading, grades 8-12 (2006, Eakin Press, Austin, TX.)
