He is author of books such as Rationality And Freedom and Choice Of Welfare And Measurement. Sen established the Department of Economics at the Jadavpur University, Kolkota, at the age of 23. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Trinity College, Cambridge. Sen is also the recipient of the Bharat Ratna and the Nobel Prize for Economics.
