Lea Lane headed up the extensive update for this third edition, working on all chapters. Lea has been a columnist for Gannett Suburban newspapers, a TV travel and lifestyle reporter, managing editor of the newsletter Travel Smart, and coauthor of a book on cruises. She writes for magazines and newspapers, including the New York Times, and is a major contributor to guidebooks on Belgium, Greece, and Italy, and to The Unofficial Guide to New York City. She is the author of The Unofficial Guide to Bed-and-Breakfasts and Country Inns in New England and the popular travel guide Solo Traveler: Tales and Tips for Great Trips.
