Description
The series for classes six to eight presents the essential values of life, all culled from the rich treasury of our country’s cultural heritage. They are presented from the child’s perspective, through lessons describing situations happening in everyday life. This perspective includes the child’s vigilant, discerning and analytical observations of the situations. The lessons have been designed based on the values listed by the NCERT. Each lesson contains An introduction to the value and a quote Two stories providing different perspectives of the topic Commentaries on the stories and the link with the value(s) Questions eliciting the child’s comprehension of the value(s) (to be used by the teacher as a class activity whenever necessary) A given situation for the child to apply the value(s) and draw conclusions. About The Author Jaya Krishnaswamy has been teaching for over 20 years and was a senior headmistress at Mount St. Mary’s School, Delhi for 15 years. She along with her husband V Krishnaswamy, Air Vice Marshall (retired), is the recipient of Sadguru Gnananda National Award 2006 for ‘Excellence in Social Work for Family’. S. Subhashini is a freelance writer for children. She has organised several competitions for children at the national level.
