The story of Savarkar's bold and daring attempt to escape imprisonment by leaping off a streamer by which he was being transported to India into the ocean off the coast of Marseilles on the 8th of July 1910. following his arrest bythe English Government for his connections with India House, a revolutionary society in London, has become the stuff of Indian legend.
