Born in Nasik in the year 1833, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar worked tirelessly for an independent India ever since he became aware of the events unfolding around him on the background of the British Raj. From a school boy who organised sarvajanik Ganesh and Shivaji Utsav with nationalist themes, he went on to participate in swadeshi movements with gusto and became he first Indian to organise a revolutionary movement for India's Independence on an international level.
