Business ethics can be thought of in many different lights, and part of the reason that business ethics has become such a contemporary issue is because it cannot be defined precisely. Although most people have different standards of what is morally justifiable, society generally feels that there are certain values that should be set as the minimum ethical behavior. Most people believe that in order to meet the minimum ethical standards, a business must be honest, obey the law, and not directly infringe on the rights that our society holds as inalienable human rights. This, however, does not exhaust the definition of business ethics that many believe in. Some other ethical issues involve compensation of employees, job security for employees, hiring practices, waste management issues, pollution, and conflicts of interest. Sometimes companies face situations where ethical choices are in opposition to their interests. An example of this could be a logging company doing business in forests around the world. One ethical consideration must be protecting the rain forest from destruction. Environmentalists may propose that the company stop logging completely however, this may bring up another ethical issue such as the preservation of jobs for loggers.About The Author Prof. Nitish Kulshrestha (b. 1971) is a Management Professional and carries rich blending of Industry and academic experience of 15 years. As a Post Graduate in Business Administration in 1996, he pursued his career with industry and obtained Masters in Human Resource Management (MHRM) in the year 2005. He is pursuing his Doctoral Research in Management Studies. Having 15 years of Industry, teaching and research experience in the field of Management as Certified Trainer he is engaged in HRD activities Conducting Training Programs in the areas of Communication Skills, Presentation Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Team Building, Enhancing Personal Productivity, Creative Thinking, Cultural Sensitivity for both Students & Corporate. He also conducts Campus to Corporate connect programs in Business Etiquette, Employability Skill Enhancement etc for students of so that they can adapt and assimilate rapidly into the industry environment. To his credit he has authored and published papers in journals of International repute and presented his research work at National & International conferences. At the time of publication of this book Prof. Nitish Kulshrestha is the Dean-Management Studies with United Group of Institutions in Greater Noida (U.P.) Dr Savita Mohan (b. 1973) is a promising management professional having obtained MBA from Rohailkhand University, Masters in Human Resource Management from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra with Gold medal & Ph.D. in Business Administration- Direct Marketing from the same University in the year 2002. She is having good 15 years teaching and research experience in the field of Management. As a testimony to her abiding interest in research areas she has to her credit 25 research papers published in various Journals at National & International Level apart from publication of 4 books.
